Pascrell Flip Flops on Drilling

Just like the Iraq War and the Bailout, Bill Pascrell has pulled a John Kerry and voted for drilling before voting against it. Here is a recent Bill quote from the record:

"Allowing drilling directly off the Atlantic coast would threaten New Jersey’s beaches … I recently supported what I considered to be a responsible compromise bill to expand leasing opportunities for oil companies 50 to 100 miles offshore. And I did so in light of President Bush’s recent action lifting a 30-year bipartisan ban … If Congress does not strike a deal on this issue, land only three miles off our coast will be vulnerable, so we cannot let that happen."
Ok, Congressman, so are you going to go out in a submarine and find where the oil is? I don't think the Paterson School of Hard Knocks gives us out engineering degrees!

Pascrell Embarasses Himself at Debate

Bill Pascrell once again had his unique style on hand for the voters of Livingston last Wednesday. But I am not taking unique in a positive way, like an exotic jewel. Rather Bill's boisterous and condescending attitude is showing why he needs to start cashing in on the Congressional Pension Check sooner rather than later.

While his GOP opponent Roland Straten touted a reform message independent of Bushism and Pelosi-Pascellite politics, Bill yelled and screamed about Bush for an hour and then interrupted Straten when the challenger was giving a policy answer like a teacher correcting a student in English class. It was surprising the Congressman did not blurt out, "Bush Lied, Kids Died". Luckily, Straten got back at him, reminding Pascrell that he is not running against Bush but him.

The debate did not make Bill look good. In fact, after he stormed out, several Livingston Democrats confirmed what we suspected: Bill Pascrell is not their kind of Democrat!

Pascrell Brings Disgraced Tax Evader Rangel In for "Gala"

Leave it to Bill Pascrell to be tone-deaf to corruption. Even as Nancy "The Nannygoat" Pelosi almost threw longtime Harlem Congressman Charlie Rangel out of the House leadership, her lackey and our Congrssman decides to bring Rangel in for his $500-a-head gala in West Paterson to be attended by Passaic County's high society. (a.k.a the only people in the 8th who can afford the taxes the Pascrell machine imposes upon them.)

Let's review. Rangel, who like Pascrell has never met a tax hike he didn't like, has been a Congressman since he took the seat of the similarly ethically challenged Adam Clayton Powell in 1971. Just as he was railing against Republican efforts to lower taxes, he himself paid no taxes on a rental property he owned in the Dominican Republic. And when he tried to explain why he did not report the $75,000 in income, Rangel almost reached Pascrellian absurdity saying:

“Every time I thought I was getting somewhere, they’d start speaking Spanish.”
Perhaps too many Spanish words end in a vowel for Rangel??

Of course maybe we should feel bad for Bill Pascrell. After all, so many of his corrupt New Jersey Democrat pals are in jail that he has to go out of state to find other ethically challenged, tax and spend pols to raise money for him!

Stephen Colbert makes a fool out of Pascrell!

It's not exactly heavy lifting, but Colbert did it in style.

It's embarrassing interviews like this that made the Democrat House Leadership advise their members to stop appearing on the show. Poor Tom Sole!

Congressman "Coin Flip"

How would you expect your Congressman to cast a vote on an issue as important as the $700 billion bailout that the House voted on last week?

Other members of Congress were vexed by the decision they faced. Less than an hour before the vote was scheduled, Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-N.J., said he was still undecided and likely would make up his mind as he walked to the House floor.

"We're flipping coins here," he said.
Flipping coins? Is that the kind of leadership the 8th District deserves?

Pascrell not for the working people and not right for NJ

Bill Pascrell claims to be a labor-lunchpail Democrat, but its pretty obvious that as Mayor of Paterson he was no help to his city's working people.

  • In 1990, during a recession when Pascrell took over for Frank Graves, the city unemployment rate was 9.5%.
  • After two years of Pascrell "leadership," unemployment was at a stratospheric 18.4%, two and half times the national average!
  • Even in 1996, as unemployment dipped to 5% nationally, unemployment was nearly 13% in Paterson, the highest in New Jersey and higher than when Pascrell entered office in a recession.
This is the man setting economic policy and who wants to be our governor????
